Will breast milk help prevent Eli, week and a half old, from it? We've been extra good about handwashing and anti bacterial things since bringing him home too. I think we caught her strep early too as there was no puss yet.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

There is a good chance that your breastmilk will help Eli...
I will try to find some sources later... keep handwashing etc..

Thanks. Web MD was not much help. She's started her anti-biotics too. My husband just left to go get some lysol. He's paranoid Eli is going to catch it. Thankfully she pretty much ignored Eli yesterday.

The breastfeeding book that I have says that if a mother has cold, flu or mild infection it is best for baby to keep breastfeeding. The mom's exposure will create antibodies in her milk. And if the baby does get sick, they usually get a milder case since they get the antibodies.
I can't find anything about if a sibling is sick... but my guess is your exposure is going to help. Keep your eye out for fever in Eli.
Lysol will kill the strep bacteria.. so spraying hard surfaces that DD touches (bathroom door handles).
If I find more I will post later.

My oldest had strep last year and our ped said she'd never seen it in anyone younger than 5 years old. I think they can get it, but it is rare. None of the rest of us got it, and I didn't do anything for us healthy ones.

Thanks Linda!
I read the same thing in my breastfeeding book. I also found a blurb on Baby Center about a sibling having strep. Basically said while contagious no touching, kissing, etc... My husband said the pedi said to keep the kids no less than 8 feet apart. Baby Center said the chances are very slim Eli would end up with strep.
I wiped all hard surfaces I know she has touched down with lysol. She's already in bed too.
Being paranoid I took his temp at his last diaper change which caused him to squirt poo all over, but it was normal. Made me feel better even if it was not needed!

I'm pretty sure he's too young to get it! I thought my DD whose 9 now had when she was 18 months, Dr said not likely.
