Montessori mamas,

I am looking for a Montessori school in Nova area and I was wondering what was your experience regarding the religious exemption for vaccination. I"m especially interested in Reston area schools.

Teagan attended The Boyd School last year and they gave me NO problems at all. We did end up moving her out due to their extreme costs and are now in a home based private montessori.

I don't know where you are but I am in Leesburg....

Thank you so much. I"m in Reston, looking into Children's House which not in the most expensive Montessori bracket. I am debating whether to ask up front about their RE policy or to just present it with the rest of the paperwork. I am afraid that if I question it they may take it as a reason not to accept us since there is a waiting list. Thanks again, it's good to know about Boyd at least.

Most all that I've ever contacted have been fine - just needed our religious exemption on file.

Which one is the Children's House? I'm not familiar.

It's on Whiele Av in Reston. It's rather small, has only 40 kids total.

I found it!

I love the small schools - we moved Teagan from Boyd into a private home based Montessori (VERY Montessori w/ trained teacher and all Nienhuis materials) that has only 6 children. It's perfect because she still gets the 3 hour work cycle, muti-aged children but gets more time for "lessons" in new materials.

That's great. How did you find home based Montessori?

The teacher was actually a head Montessori teacher at a Montessori in Ashburn - Willow (terrible school but great teacher!)... we left there and went to Boyd, sad leaving Miss Rachel behind but not being able to tolerate Willow's admin anymore....

Then I heard Rachel was opening up her own school so here we are. What was cool was Teagan remembered Rachel so the transition was super easy and as if she had the same teacher all the time.

We'll do K with her this September and then see what happens from there....
