Alova Suede Cloth in pockets-- has anyone else experienced this?

I bought two different colors of the Alova suede cloth from Joann's recently & sewed up some pocket dipes for my 2 yo ds. The darker color seems to be working fine as a wicking fabric, but the lighter color-- it's an off white, sort of yellowish/cream color-- is repelling, no matter what I do! They're both 100% poly & the weave looks exactly the same on the back side. The texture of the surface is slightly different, though-- the darker color being slightly just slightly less uniform on the surface than the lighter color, which is very smooth & even. I assumed since they were both the Alova that they would behave the same way. Anyone have any insights? It appears I've made 6 diapers that will just not work. The pee runs off before it soaks in with the lighter colored suede cloth! Ack.

Needless to say, this has been very frustrating!

Hmmm...I have some of that lighter colored suedecloth too. I haven't made anything with it yet, I think I'll wait until there are some responses before I sew it up.

Well, I can confidently report that the darker color works & the light color does not-- the liquid pools up & soaks in too slowly & will end up running out of the dipe. I stripped these using every known technique on the web-- including hand scrubbing them with dawn & soaking them in almost boiling water. And then, well... I tested them. :

Do not buy the off-white colored Alova from Joanns!

Interesting! They must have put a different finish on the lighter color.
