His daddy!!! Trace Bishop arrived Tuesday morning at 1:06 AM after about 45 minutes of active labor, three minutes of pushing, and the doula on the way!
I know, I know, I had one of those labors that seem unreal, like the mom has made it up...trust me, it was very real! We had an induction scheduled for Tuesday morning at 6:30, but Trace decided that he wanted to be born at home and for his daddy to catch him.
The reason I didn't go to the hospital when I realized I was in labor was because my labor with dd #1 was 23 hours, my active phase of labor with dd #2 was 26 hours...see a pattern here? Yep, I didn't expect Trace to make his appearance anytime soon after labor started, so I was just takin' it easy, breathing through the contractions...When DH and I went outside to walk around, I couldn't get through more than three or four steps without a contraction. Still, I didn't clue into the fact that this big ol' baby was coming out right now!!!! Anyway, we get inside, I'm ready to get in the shower for some relief, I feel the baby's head on the perineum, and I yelled for dh to get a towel, wake up my mom (who had come to stay for a few days), and catch this baby!
Trace is perfect, of course...he weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces, 19 inches long, and looks like me
My girls both looked like DH, so it's nice to have one look more like me this time. What's funny is that the hospital called me at about 7 AM on Tuesday morning wondering where I was; my bed had been booked for me and I wasn't there! DH explained that we'd already had the baby and we wouldn't be showing up for the induction!
Oh, Trace was also three days postdate, so mamas that are getting desperate, hang in there! I, too, thought I would never ever have this baby. And here we are, UC and all!
