16 week checkup went well

So the midwife came to the house today to do my prenatal. She said everything seemed fine and we got to hear the heartbeat- there really is a little person in there!

It's always comforting to hear the heartbeat! I know when we hear it for the first time it makes everything more real

How cool that she comes right to your house! Yay for a great appt!!

Edited: That sounds so stupid, esp if your having a HB. Just meant it's so cool....I have to drive an hour and she doesn't do any prenatal appts. @ my home. She said she used to to check out the environment but then finally decided, why does it matter? The baby's going to live there whether she thinks it OK to birth there or not!

It doesn't sound stupid

I got lucky with my midwife. I love that she comes to my house too. My last midwife didn't make housecalls for pre-natals but luckily she was a two minute walk from my old house in Vermont. But I moved and was worried about a long drive for visit. Then I found this woman and she is wonderful!
Also I couldn't have a midwife who lived more than 20 minutes or so- my last child was born so quickly I would worry a bit about being alone.

It is so great to hear a heartbeat. I know when we heard the heartbeat for the first time it made it really sink in for DH and that we are having a baby.
