What method do you use? A couple of yrs ago, I tried washing them on hot in the washing machine. They all shedded so much (big balls of fluff) that it got behind the washing drum and almost burned up the washing machine motor. I'm very scared to do it that way again but want to try some recycled wool covers again. Any advice?

I don't always felt my sweaters before making covers/longies. The wool loses a lot of it's stretch when felted. If your sweater is thin, you can make a two layer cover to help with wetness protection. This is how I do most of mine.

You could try the dryer, if you wet them first, and just check them often. I always use the washer and haven't had any issues (although some do shed alot!) but different sweaters felt up differently. It sounds like you had some real bad luck with it.
