NOW I know what Flapjack was talking about...

when she was going through prodromal labor!!! I coudn't really understand what she meant by it exactly, because with DS, labor began with a bang!

But this time...not so lucky! DH and I DTD this afternoon, which is what sent me directly into labor with DS. About 20 min afterwards, I was definitely having some STRONG contractions! I had a few "emptying" trips to the toilet, and then started getting some dishes and other chores done because things were looking like laborland was on it's way.

After about an hour and a half of ctx between 3-5 min apart, I noticed that all of the sudden, some were clearly labor ctx, and some were clearly BH ctx. This never happened with DS, so I started to think something was up.

As the day has gone on, though I have stayed active, the ctx have varied WIDELY between rather regular and intense, to plain old BH, to nothing for long periods of time. Right now I am having almost nothing, but every 20 min or so, I will have a big ctx.

So now, I am going to have a glass of wine and head to bed. If this keeps up all night, or worse for days like it did for Helen, I'm going to go seriously crazy!!!

On the bright side, though, when the ctx are strong, I AM SURE they are doing something, so that is just that much less work I have to do whenever labor really kicks in (hopefully after a long, restful night's sleep)

Bummer, sorry to hear that. I've been in prodromal for almost three weeks now, I've gone past my first due date.

hope it is soon for you, i have a feeling I am going to be that way this time. I have been having REALLY strong ctx for about three or four times now with no pattern just strong, like a reallly bad intestinal cramp realy low and then it moves up and around and stays tight for about 2 min and then nothing. Let us know how you are feeling!

Feeling for you here too. With dd3 my labor just started. Contrax got closer together, harder, stronger, etc. This time they start & stop, some are real some are B"H etc. I'm getting the feeling baby is never coming, even though I know it prob. wont' be much longer, but still...

Sorry. FWIW, I'm convinced it does make for easier labours...

I too now understand and wonder if this has anything to do with the number of previous pregnancies and births. Like lack of muscle tone? The thing that freaks me out...the feeling that something is going to fall out of me at any time. It's not a constant feeling but it's almost like my water is going to break and then it goes away. And that feeling keeps me housebound. With my oldest son, my water broke in public.

This is what I am banking on!

I can't belive how many women this happens to! I'm thinking of you all!!!

Thankfully, after the wine and rest, I ended up sleeping pretty normally last night, and have only had 1 ctx this morning, so we'll see how the day goes!

I'm in my 3rd week of it. it freaking sucks. I completely flipped on dh yesterday. ended up screaming at him that I wasn't suprised he felt comfortable leaving me with contractions since obviously I'm NEVER having this baby no matter how much pain i'm in.

no offense...I'd really rather have a 14hr labor like my others than 3 weeks of it...

I'm in the same boat! Mine started on Thursday.

Hugs to all you mamas in prodromal land....I had it bad with dd #2 and it was horrid. I only had it for a few days with ds. And I am here to tell you that it definitely sped my labor up and reduced the work I had to do once I did go into labor! I had a three hour labor with ds, with only 45 minutes of active. AWESOME!!! I had a 26 hour active labor with dd #2...so I'm feelin' y'all about the misery. You will have your baby and this horrid agonizing prodromal will end. Trust me on this!

I had about 3 weeks of prodromal labor too....

AND an easy, fast 6.5-hour labor. I was already a 4-5 at my first and only cervical check. I tell you what, all the fake-out stuff sucked, but it was SO worth it if it's what got me that easy labor. Hang in there!

I am getting this too..I am due today. I really thought I was going into labor Saturday night after we dtd. I seemed to have a mix of real and bh contractions for about 12am-3am...after I had a snack, took a shower and a magnesium it all stopped and I went back to sleep.

I am going to be in denial when it actually starts thinking that I am just being faked-out again...
