2nd degree tear postpartum care?

Thread Starter
I am having a postnatal visit with a client who had a 2nd degree tear at her birth on Wed. Any comfort measures, advice I can give her for optimum comfort and healing? I know rest, tissue-repairing nutrition (protein, vit a, c, e), no stairs, honey on pads, sitz baths.

Anything else?

a homebirth midwife around here recommends aloe vera on the tear

Arnica, and witch hazel pads. Keep them in the fridge so that it is cool when placed on the sutures.

No chair sitting, keep weight and pressure off the wound. Recliner ok, laying around is even better.

A donut to sit on. They make ones with covers so you can be more discreet.
