preseed? and politics lolo!

Okay this is one of those things I have just skipped over but now I want to know, what the heck is "preseed"? How does one use it, what does it do, and where do you get it? I am willing to try anything for the next couple of months before we rev up for another run at IVF.
thanks ladies!

BTW, as an opinioinated Canadian, please go to your local caucus if your state hasn't had it already, and then campaign and VOTE (if I could participate in getting Bush and cronies the heck out of there, I sure would!). Sorry, the primary coverage is killing me.

Preseed is a kind of lube touted as sperm friendly... it's costly and aimed at women who are TTC and willing to shell out no end of $$$ for a baby. I bought a 6 pack once... I didn't like it. First I don't like that they are preying on our infertility to make money. Second I don't like how it's packaged... it comes in these little turkey-baster things so in theory you can squirt it up inside yourself and have it where is needs to be... well there is way more in a tube than you need at one time IMO it's very wasteful packaging. (I kind of wonder if the packaging is calculated to make it seem more "scientific") Some people will just use part of a tube, put some on their fingers, use it externally, but then you hae this drippy tube thing laying around till next time (they have a snap off top and can't be resealed)

If the price were more reasonable and they sold it in a bottle instead of those dumb tubes, I would be more in favor of it. But I think it's hyped up, personally, and I won't buy it on principle.

As for where to buy it, generally people order it on line and there are a ton of places... just google pre-seed... I have heard of some local stores having it but not many.

There are some other lubes that are supposed to not interfere with the spermies... Slippery Stuff and Femglide come to mind... they are hard to find but you can buy them on line... my infertility clinic suggests olive oil which is messy as hell but works well ... some people use egg white but I find the thought of egg white in my vagina unnerving. I will eat raw cookie dough without flinching but bacteria in my stomach doesn't phase me like bacteria in my vagina especially when I am trying to get pregnant.

No, maybe not especially... I don't like the idea of an infection down there any time.

I use preseed. I buy it at www.babyhopes.com
Yes it is expensive, I try not to think about it . I have no ewcm whatsoever, and I'm very dry so I have to use lube, and all the other lubes apparently kill sperm.
I completely agree with the pp - it's expensive, annoying to use, and a huge money grab. But I'm desperate and feel I need it, so what can I do .

RunnerDuck - is the olive oil supposed to act as ewcm or simply a 'if you have to use lube use this' type thing?
(I also have the same issue with raw egg whites, I'm just not sure about it )

We tried preseed for the 1st time last month. I don't have alot of CM, so I thought I'd try it. dh and I are dealing with MFI, so I was hoping that the preseed would help the spermies move a little quicker. I've been ordering fertilaid and I've gotten "free" samples with my orders. If you do try it, my only advice is to use only half the tube. A little goes a long way. Its a shame its so expensive and there is too much (in my opinion) in a tube.

We are trying anything at this point. We're trying to decide if we can swing another ivf cycle. With dh's counts, our RE won't do iui. So I'm hoping the vitamins help and maybe once our insurance gets settled, we can try iui again. In the meantime, its alot of vitamins, cbfm and preseed

My dr recommended olive oil to me as a lubricant. I used to have really good EWCM. I don't know what has happened to it lately. Anyways, I used it as lubricant.

I was just talking to DH today about where we draw the line... I did buy an ovulation monitor. I chart but I don't temp. If AF comes this month, I have to go start the bloodwork to see if there is anything wrong. I'm lucky my insurance covers me if I have fertility problems but I don't know how far I want to take it.

I have a friend who swears by Preseed. She has very little EWCM, and the little she does have is "hostile"... anyway.. each time she has used Preseed she has gotten pregnant in a month or two. (She has had several miscarriages)

Oh, and... I already voted!

I have used preseed once so far. The clomid really dries out the CM and then you are surely in hostile territory. I have heard amazing things about it.

okay, forgive me if this is crass, but do you use regular olive oil or extra virgin?
LOL extra virgin... I got a huge bottle of it and don't really like the taste, I normally use the "light in flavor" type. This stuff is so overpowering I don't like it in cooking much. So when we found out we could use it as lube, the tightwad in me rejoiced to have found a use for it.

I have both, extra virgin and regular. We have more regular olive oil so we use that as our lubricant. I don't know if it makes a difference. My dr just said to use olive oil.

Okay is anyone else laughing at the idea of using "extra VIRGIN" olive oil as a lube? To TTC, no less? Or is this just the immature, pervert Canadian in me?

We used Preseed the cycle we got pregnant with my daughter. So, maybe it helped. It at least made having sex on Clomid with reduced CM a lot more comfortable. I didn't find the applicators hard to use or inconvenient. I just went ahead and used them all each time. Yes, it's not the least expensive thing ever, but compared to all the other stuff I could have paid for for TTC it was a good deal

Just piping in here to say that we've been using it for 3 cycles now and we're not pg, though it isn't unpleasant to use at all. I hate that I have to pay so much to get just 6 more applications.

I got some preseed and we are going to try it for the first time this cycle- when I O.
I have heard of people successfully getting pg on it- but is there any connection to getting pg nd miscarrying with it? I hope NOT!!!
I have very little ewcm- if any- so I would be happy to have something to assist the sperm to my eggs.
