I had to laugh at the Mom who was afraid of the pain of a catheter that had just had a natural childbirth! I was the same way! I had a tear near my urethra & was afraid of the pain of a catheter! Crazy, considering what I had just been through.

Jessica, I think as a doula you did everything you knew to do and everything within your power in this situation, so don't beat yourself up over it! From what you are describing, mom probably could have benefited from an in and out cath, but recognizing that is really beyond your role.
