Video of my UC

Thread Starter
Hi All! I wanted to share the link to my surro son's UC.
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...deoID=29855765
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfIyisGR-ig

The first one is the actual birth and the second is just us oooing and ahhing over the baby.

Labor was only about 6.5 hours. I am going to write up the full story in a few days and I'll post the full thing with more pictures of the birth. I just wanted to share the YouTube link now-I hope they don't remove it!

The stats:
7lbs 15 oz, 18" long
Feb 6, 2008 1:30 pm CST

He is such a cutie and a really calm and content little guy. He even sleeps for 4 hour stretches at night! His parents are so happy to finally meet their son-I don't think he's been put down for more than 10 minutes since he was born. I couldn't be more proud of the beautiful boy and the wonderful family I helped create! Surrogacy has definitely been a very satisfying and rewarding experience for me.

Enjoy!

Really cool!

Thank you for posting it, it really helps to see that it can be done 'just like that'. It wasn't the first HB video I watched but the more the better for someone who never gave birth before to visualize that it's possible.

I was a bit scared when I saw the baby looking rather white and a bit floppy, or am I wrong, I mean I don't have much of a clue yet, just compared to others I saw? I read that if the arms are bent like the hands are close to the shoulders it's a better sign? Sorry I don't want to sound negative in your thread with everyone else congratulating.

He is and was perfect in every way. Your primal grunt I remember. You gave an amazing gift. To us and to the parents. Did their talking while you were pushing bother you or did you even notice? Just wondering. Remembering. Is the "ring of fire" different water? and WOW, another soul is here.

Thanks for sharing That was beautiful.

It was cute when the Dad (?) moved around and saw the head and said, "oh, my goodness!"

To the PP asking about him being white and floppy... i think the whiteness was because he was still pretty vernixy.

Thank you so much for sharing. I am 38 weeks today and planning my first UC waterbirth at home and this is an inspiration for me to watch and it is comforting.....

Haha I loved when he said "I'd come over there and hug you but I'm kinda busy" and she said "I don't care about you!" That was funny.

That's so amazing. I want to be a surro but I didn't think I'd ever be able to find IP that would let me UC. Ditto to the other person about the baby taking so long to cry. Was he breathing before that? It looked kinda scary to me, too, but I love that everybody was so calm.

Awesome! Birth is so simple and beautiful. My 3yo DS enjoyed the video too. I hope he likes watching his new sibling this summer too!

Wow, that was an amazing birth! I'd love to hear more about your surrogacy--why you did it, etc--when you have the time to share, especially how you were able to find a couple who was okay with you doing a UC.

I had the sound off, I need to rewatch that with the sound on I guess.
My UC baby did not cry at all,he was very content.

Awesome!!! I was hoping you'd have something like that to share. I've been telling my sister about you since you started this! I'm shocked at how little blood there was in the water! I had enough to make mine red. And that was before the placenta came out!

to the pp asking about color etc. you should have seen my uc baby (pm me if you like...I do have video)...she was coated in vernix and was very white looking. Her's didn't come off like his did though so she was that color for a good while (despite us rubbing it in). It made her lips look darker than they were too. She cried less than he did and would have probably been deemed slow to start as a result had we been in the hospital or had a midwife. She even napped within 10 mins. of birth . It's all individual though because she responded to stimulation, nursed well, and "passed" all the other markers for a newborn. DD1 was coated in vernix too so I'm guessing my kids need it for some reason.
