ok, iris is 9 wks. waaaay too early for teeth, yes? i know it can start as early as 3 mos, but we're not there yet.

but for the last 3-4 days, she's been super drooly (wasnt at all before) and fussy and eating her hands. she even has a facial rash from all the drool.

what else could it be besides teething? i cant feel any little buds. anybody else going through/been through this?

yes. m drools like it's her job. i was told the drool is a more likely sign of salivary g;land maturation than teeth. as for the fist eating and fussiness, that just sounds like my kid when she wants to suck and can't figure out why a) her fists aren't satisfactory sucking devices and b) why milk isn't coming out of them.

We are a drool factory here too. Dr. Sears says their salivary glands mature before they can keep up with swallowing all the spit so they drool.

And the hand sucking is usually the first warning (about 7 seconds) before the hysterical, "Oh my god, why aren't you feeding me?" cries.

cool! salivary glands sound much better than teeth at this point. i've been kinda thrown by her fussiness cuz shes been so laid back til lately. we had our first big middle o the night fussfest last night. well, it was like 10 mins. i've gotten sooo spoiled by easy nights. hope that doesnt become habit!

bib huh? that'll save the clothes, but her poor little face is all red & chapped looking. she looks so pitiful.

DP has scolded me so many times-she just puts bibs on DS as part of his daily outfit. I slack off in the bib department and he keeps messing up his clothes as his drool gets his clothes wet and my baby won't have any wetness. So I end up changing him 3-4 times a day while DP doesn't need to change him that much.

Holy crap! And he's the same age as Iris! Wow.

Is it making him uncomfortable? I've read massaging the gum/tooth helps. Also giving him a cold cloth to chew on. Fabric teethers are better than plastic-y ones. Umm...that's all I got. I think it's time for me to read up on this.

Seriously, weren't these babies JUST popping out of our wombs yesterday?

i've offered him things to chew on, the only thing he wants in his mouth is my nipple : honestly he doesn't act too perturbed by it - i hope all of his teeth-cutting will be this easy!
my mom informed me that i cut all my teeth twice - they'd emerge, go back under, then emerge again. how suck! :
