Still no baby

Well, my first due date was the 8th, and that's come and gone; my second due date is for the 14th, which my doctor is allowing me to try and reach, but if she isn't out by my next appointment on the 19th, she's scheduling me for induction that night. Bummer. Someone convince her to leave on her own! =p I'm only 1cm dilated, here's to a fast-approaching labor!

yes, mama, i agree with you! let's get this labor started. MDC is a good place to get some tips on natural inductions and resources that you can research yourself to get labor going if you want to before a medical induction.

Time to get your groove on with your partner.

Thanks for the info, I'd prefer not to be medically induced unless it's life-threatening. I've just been crossing my fingers she pops out all on her own

Does it really help induce labor?

Why does she want to induce you so soon? Even going by your first due date, you'd only be 11 days 'late'....

here is what worked for me...

I drank a milkshake with castor oil, the 2 hours later ate "labor salad" that consists of romaine, watercress, red cabbage, gorgonzola cheese and balsamic/olive oil dressing. I did the milk shake at 9pm and the salad at 11:30 and started having contraction at 12:30 and Henry was born at 8am.

Good luck!!

Yes it REALLY does! Prostaglandins in semen help ripen the cervix and orgasms stimulate cntx! Do it mama! 8o)

Her reasoning is that my pelvis is so small and she's afraid of her getting too big, and that I'll end up needing a CS. *shrug* I can always just not attend scheduled inductions if need-be.

I've read a lot about eating a lot of pineapple, it has similar things as semen.
I've also read that semen is more effective if digested, but I don't understand why...
Any other ideas?
Why does that labour salad work?

I'd go with castor oil on the cervix, rather than in the mouth, especially if you have piles. I'm starting to think that castor oil internally is a one-time deal though: it worked with Alex, didn't work with any of my others.
Other than that, I'd try and book and acupuncture appointment for this weekend, and to leave the castor oil thing as late as possible.

phooey! Hope this doesn't come across as insensitive. But I am sick of this attitude from Drs!

There is nothing wrong with our bodies- we are not broken!

The reasons for a 'small' or inadequate pelvis have to do malnutrition/vitamin deficiency early in life- not seen so much in developed countries! More like third world countries where children were not fed properly. I do hope that you refuse medical induction unless they know or you feel that your baby is in jeaopardy- doing for no other reason than an arbitrary due date if you are healthy and fluid levels are fine is just insulting to women's bodies and god. Hope this doesn't come off as mean or anything- I want it to be supporting.

Also I hope that you have someone in your birthing team (besides you) that has absolute faith in the birthing process and in a woman's body so that you are not met with doubt every step of the way.
