Dylan ( 8 yr old) was released from the hospital this evening.

I went to see her this afternoon while she was still in the hospital. She was SO EXCITED to see ds & dd! I walked in and she said, "Hey! Aren't you [Ds]'s mom?" Then she asked to see them. We stayed about an hour and the kids all had fun and Dylan told my kids to stop playing several times because it was making her laugh and laughing hurt!

She was in good spirits.
She told me, "My mom died." I choked up, tears welled up in my eyes, I just whispered, "I know, baby." Then we briefly discussed how she'd see her mom again and God remembers her mom and good stuff like that. Later on as we were preparing to leave she suddenly got a look of mild alarm and said, "My dad can't work anymore!" (He's self employed in construction.) I was by her bed, her aunt and uncle and 4 other friends were at the foot of the bed talking w/ one another. I asked why and she told me, "Because he has to take care of me and my baby sister!" I explained that daddy CAN work and aunt [name] and her grandparents all all their friends will help take care of her & Grayson. Even though mommy isn't here all of her friends and family are here and they will help. I reminded her that God knows when even a sparrow falls to the ground so he definitely remembers her mom. My kids broke the tension when dd asked, "What's a sparrow?" Dylan and ds said, "It's a bird!" Then we got a giggle out of how the word "bird" sounds. She seemed better after that and we left with the promise that I would bring her a present in the morning.

I'll bring it Friday when we see her, since she was released already.
Chase, the dh, has been described as "a shell." I've yet to speak to him personally.
The services are Friday. A friend is getting my kids off the bus and tkaing them to her house.
