Getting Smoke out of Stuffed Animals

I'm having some stuffed animals sent to me, and I know that one of the person smokes in the home.

I'm wondering if anyone has any reccommendations on how to get rid of the smell?

Pack them in a box with newspaper for a week or so. Newspaper realy absorbs smells.

That's an interesting idea...I will try that if they still smell bad after washing.

I got them and they're only very lightly smelling like smoke. So, I've thrown them in the washer with soap and some vinegar in the rinse. I hope that does it!

Otherwise after they dry I'll try the newspapers! I've never heard that one before!

OK, update, I put the stuffed animals in the washer with soap and added vinegar where my "bleach" dispenser would be (front loader). Did an extra rinse and washed on cold.

Wow, they came out looking horrible, BUT, my DD was more than happy to brush them with a soft boars hair bristle brush. Now, they look and smell like new!

She's so happy!
