Lydia Violet made her entrance this afternoon at 1:17 pm after just under 7 hours of labor. My three older girls were with us at her birth and did fabulously. They were thrilled to be a part of the welcome party.

Lydia weighs 7lb.13oz. and is 19 1/2 in. long. She has light brown hair and incredibly chubby cheeks. She has nursed three times so far and seems wonderfully healthy.

We got home from the birth center at 6:24 pm, almost exactly 12 hours after labor started. My mom has arrived and is staying for the week. I am feeling great, though I could live without the wretched after-pains.

We are so, so thankful and excited that she is here with us. (And I am very glad to have labor and delivery behind me. No matter how wonderful the whole process is... dang, it hurts!) There is not really a single thing to complain of, though. Everything went very smoothly. I wish each one of you as joyful an experience as we have had.

yay karen! welcome, lydia!

7 hours seems like a nice amount of time to get adjusted to labor but that's about a third of the time of my other labor (22 hours total but awesome and manageable). What do you think?
