Oh, the swelling...any suggestions?

So here I sit, 4:27am, and I haven't been to bed yet. Why? Because my friggin' toes, feet, ankles, and legs are soooo swollen that they feel like they are literally going to split open. :

I drink tons and rest throughout the day. Dh rubs my feet with peppermint lotion, but that only helps for a few minutes. He's been putting me on "couch rest" around 7pm every evening because I'm so swollen. Elevation doesn't seem to be helping any.

Anything else I can try? I didn't swell like this with my other pregnancies!

lemon juice in your water- I drink every cup of water with a squirt of lemon juice and it has helped so so much. Also my midwife recommended eating asparagus and cucumber to help relieve the swelling.

I would think hot tea would help as well.

And DH has the right idea with putting you with your feet up. Does your midwife/OB know about the swelling? Good to let them know when anything is out of the ordinary- right?

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Operamommy,

I am right there with you. NONE of my shoes fit, and at this point I'm not going to buy another pair. I wish it were summer so I could wear flip-flops or something. I am going to try to do the lemon water, I love to drink that anyway. Do you have a strange pain on the bottom of your big toes to go with this? It kinda feels like a rock in my shoe, even when I am barefoot.

Just wanted to sympathize and let you know you weren't alone here.
