How's the exercise going?

i thought another exercise thread would help motivate us, especially those of us that have been stuck in the deep freeze lately. : so what are you all doing to stay fit and healthy?

i'm a FitMama junky. i do that video every other day, and although it's a bit cheesy, i like the workout. it feels like just enough. i've been wanting to get to the community pool, do some brisk walking, try out some prenatal yoga classes, and maybe even a prenatal pole dancing class. but for now i've been putting all of that off because it either costs money, or involves me leaving the house, which has been near impossible with these frigid temps lately.

Great thread idea! Keep us motivated!! I have been walking a mile and a half in 30 minutes on my treadmill 4-5 days a week. I have a prenatal yoga tape I do now and then. I have also been keeping active while working on our kitchen remodeling project so I don't have time to sit on my butt very much.

I've started to do more now that I'm feeling better.

I turn up the stereo and dance on the rebounder for a few songs every day and I do prenatal yoga stretches a couple of times a week. In spring, I'll join an actual yoga class...but I'm not motivated when it's so cold. My ds and I also go to the forest and walk for an hour or so once a week. When its warmer we go about 4 times a week.

I've been going to a prenatal yoga class once a week. It is so relaxing and is one of the highlights of my whole week. I just started going to bellydancing class which has been a lot of fun too.

Great thread!
I started going to the gym again. I walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes (intervals), and then I do a 5-minute cool-down. I'm hoping to add some time on the elliptical machine, but not this week yet.

i have been terrible about exercise since becoming pregnant! i stuck it out in my regular yoga class until about 7 weeks then i was just feeling so poorly that i stopped all together. after xmas we dropped out ymca membership to save some dough. however, now that i've started my bradley class i've really been trying to get walking in (it's part of my homework) and really work on stretches and isometric exercise. i am shopping for a pre-natal yoga class that won't break my bank!

good thread, good reminder!

I love this thread! Yay!

I'm doing the Perfect Pregnancy Workout video. I really need to get some cardio in though too. I was doing it every other day, however I've been less than motivated lately. Mostly because I want to shower afterwards which can be difficult w/two LO's LOL!

I'm swimming as often as poss and walk the dogs regularly but keep getting a lot of round ligament pain so have to go careful, especially with swimming. I'm looking forward to being able to have a gentle 30 minute bike ride twice a day to work and back after we move next week - we currently live an hour's drive from work so it'll be a huge luxury to be able to walk or bike as that's what I've always done up til now.

Um, yeah, I need some motivation!

(my exercise has been limited to feeding and taking care of my sheep, chickens, etc., and remodeling the house lately)

I too am doing the Perfect Pregnancy Workout every other day when I am not busy with something else.

i forgot to add, a side benefit of doing my workout at home for now (other than saving $) is that it forces me to clean up dd's toys at least every other day so that i don't trip and fall while i'm working out. and usually i end my workout with a vacuum session because i'm so disgusted by all the dog hair (we have 3 little dogs) that i get up close and personal with while stretching.

i'm so jealous of those of you able to get outside! if it were just me, i might make it outdoors, but it's been way too cold to take dd out for now. i keep reminding myself spring is just around the corner. as i type this, dh is currently outside shoveling the latest snowfall--not too springy sounding, is it?

I just started a yoga class (not prenatal, but there are three pregnant women in the class and they modify a few things for us) this week. I was exhausted by the end of the hour!

I haven't been doing anything specific or regular for exercise, but my plan was to get through the vomiting as best I could and try to do more exercising once I was feeling better in the second trimester (which seems to take awhile, for me.) Now, at 17 weeks, I'm going to do my best to build some sensible routines.

I'll have to go back and look into the videos mentioned in this thread. That's a good idea--have something at home. My toddler probably would enjoy watching/doing it with me.

I have the yoga-inspired poses & stretches that are pictured in the book, Active Birth, and may start working on some of those. Walking would be good, too, but we are stuck in the deep freeze as well.

does walking from the sofa to the fridge and back again count?

I have no motivation to exercise atm...although I do walk everywhere which is something I guess!

I belong to one of those 30 min circuit places. I go 6X per week and LOVE it. Since I stay at home it's such a nice thing to get out of the house in the evening. Even if it's just for a little bit. Kind of like my own private time.

I have Fitmama too, I haven't done it yet!

I usually go to the gym and do 1/2 hour of elliptical trainer and 1/2 hour of walking on the treadmill at 3.5 mph.

Once it's not so : I love long walks on the boardwalk! So does DD!

I really want to start incorporating more yoga. Most of the classes at my gym that I can make it to are the hot yoga classes though which I don't feel comfortable doing while i'm pg.

I so need to get motivated again! I was walking or run/walking everyday before the nausea started. Now that it's gone I haven't been able to get going again. The problem is I was a night time exerciser, after DD was in bed around 8pm. But now I'm too tired at night.

I've got to find some way to schedule some day time exercise.

well, I'm more motivated now that I worked out yesterday! To my video of course. I plan on doing that in the mornings (even thu before I start I feel soooo tired and dont wanna do it) and then in the afternoons when DS is sleeping, do my yoga. I just have a book that I follow. For me, the yoga classes seem too distracting.

Let's get moving mamas!!
