Vaccine Ad in "USA Today" from Feb 12:
I think it's a nice ad, but I only have one complaint. They listed "antifreeze" as an ingredient. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that is not actually true?
Actually that's not the case. I have not seen ethanol glycol listed on one single ingredients list ever. What I have seen are:
Phenoxyethanol is in DTaP, Hep A/B, Td, IPV but is not the same chemical makeup as ethanol glycol and is an organic chemical compound.
EDTA (ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid) which is an amino acid...also used as a preservative in the Rabies/Varicella vaccines.
EDTA is also used in chelation therapy, dentistry, as an anticoagulant, and many other things...
wikepedia has some interesting info on it also...
The antifreeze thing is what I consider to be an "urban myth of vaccines" and started out of a misunderstanding of the ethylene chemical compounds (specifically EDTA)....not everything ethylene is antifreeze.
