Toothpaste?

I know there's probably a thread about this already but I couldn't find one. I'm looking for recommendations on toothpastes. I'd like to get one that's floride free but it seems like most organic toothpastes still have floride. I may be ready to make my own, but I'm not sure. Help!

Have you checked out the dental section under Health and Healing? I was just over there going through all the toothpaste posts, looking for something without fluoride, sls or xylitol (great for a lot of people, just not for us). I finally decided to make my own with baking soda, salt and peppermint oil. I need to pick up some myrrh powder at some point, but for now, this'll do.

I haven't done a tonne of reading, but from what I understood regularly using baking soda was very hard on your enamel, I'd double check that to be sure because you can't fix damage to enamel.

I'll have to head over to the other section to see the threads!

Thanks,

What I've been happy with for the past 6 months is just plain old water. I just work to brush brush brush and the physical motion removes the plaque.

I did use baking soda for a while but after just a few weeks I could feel that my gums were getting a bit "rough" from it.

I'd also like to get a mint plant to put in the bathroom for when I want nice breath too.

Yay my first post!

Burt's bee's has some with no fluoride or sodium lauryl sulphate. I don't know how reputable all the info in this website is...but I did find it helpful.http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

I'm not set on a specific brand, but have FINALLY realized that many of the brands have some with and without fluoride. We often use the Trader Joe's toothpaste, Jason, Tom's (not so excited now they are owned by Colgate), Weleda, and a new tooth powder by Eco Dent. The tooth powder is pretty interesting and so nice to not have a traditional tube.

In our house we use just plain old regular toothpaste, but my Dad uses just saly on his teeth, he has gum issues and it has helped him no end. He just uses it in the a.m. and then rinses really well and makes sure not to swallow all the salty saliva afterwards.

Is there anything else he could be using as well?

GypsyMary, why do you use myrrh?
