And one more question...stainless sippy cups

I have another question... anyone have advice on sippy cups... I read recently the plastic can be a problem and my kids still use them. Any thoughts on alternatives, like stainless steel and where to get them?

thanks

For stainless steel, the only one I know is Klean Kanteen. They have a sippy adapter that takes the avent sippy spout. I just got a couple from reusablebags.com, there is another thread where someone was asking about a discount code and sounds like there might be one in a couple of months.

We're working our way away from plastics too

I actually did a search for them... Target is carrying the Thermos Foogos and then there is a website for the other one... hopefully it's ok to put up the link... www.thesafesippy.com. I guess there's a high demand on those right now so you need to buy the where they're retailed at... which in my area is not particularly close by. They look really nice though! I think I'm going to check out the ones at Target... thank you so much!

We have KK and Foogo. They're both good but we like Foogo better. The air vent on our KK sippies tends to dribble out which is a little messy. DD (almost 2) doesn't like it as much but doesn't articulate why. Maybe it tastes different??? I don't notice it though. The Foogos are awesome. They keep drinks cold and don't dribble. We have the sippy cup and the straw cup which is great for smoothies. I just order more in a co-op on another board. A girlfriend of mine has the Safe Sippy. She likes it OK but says it's kind of hard to get liquid out of so her youngest doesn't like it.

I'm so glad you posted, because I just ordered some of the Foogos on Target's website... they're offering free shipping right now if you spend $50 or more, which was easy to do... 4 cups basically...I got the ones with the straws, so I'm glad to hear you like them! Thank you so much everyone! Great advice!!!

I'm going to check out the Foogoo ones at Target tomorrow.

For those of you with Kleen Kanteens, the sippy tops from Born Free should work as well. They fit in the Avent sippys and bottle rings so they will probably work as well and would be safer than the Avent ones.

Which ones are dishwasher safe???

I'm reading some conflicting info on different sites. For instance, Target's site says the Thermos Foogo is not dishwasher safe, but then on other sites is says it is...

Same for the Sigg. On reusablebags.com they say the Sigg is dishwasher safe. Then somewhere else, I read it's not...ARgh.

Can anyone clarify this??? I want BPA free, but I really need to be able to put them in the dishwasher. I put my stainless steel cookware in the dishwasher, and it is ok....so wouldn't the Foogo or Kleen Kanteen be the same??

TIA!!!

We put our KK and Foogos in the dishwasher. I wash my SIGGs by hand but would put them in the dishwasher if I could get away with it!

So, these Born Free sippy spouts will screw onto the KK sippy bottles?
I think they should but I don't own a KK. They are a little thicker at the base than the Avent but are the same circumference. I wonder if the people at Born Free would know. I bet someone there has a Kleen Kanteen and could try it out.

i put my Siggs in the dishwasher, they seem fine. they just annoy me because they dent so easily. they're nice and lightweight, which is good, but everytime the kids drop one it gets another dent in it!
we have some of the thermos straw cups and those are my kids' preferred cups (but they are not really in 'sippy cup' age). so i'm interested in the foogos for this baby on the way. will be interested to hear what folks have to say about them.

Love our KK sippy cups!

We love our KK sippys, but I prefer SIGG for bigger kids and adult bottles. I hate the denting too, but I love the bottles so much that I will take them. The dents ass character.

I have to say DS does not like his KK sippy. If a cold beverage is put into the cup, his little hands freeze. Im not sure if they make a cup holder. Something I might check into.

Ok, a friend of a friend said that her Born Free spouts fit perfectly on her Kleen Kanteen. The friend said that she's had her hard spouts for a while so she doesn't know if there have been any design changes.

to help the cold hands cold bottle we just put our sigg in a babysock when its cold.

siggs are aluminum though which worries me some although they have a .00 leaching rating. my ds likes warm milk in his so hopefully its ok?

We had this problem so we put soda can insulators on the kk sippy. This also makes them colorful and distinguishes which cup belongs to which kid.
