Help for badly injured toddler teeth

Hi all. I'm new to these forums. I'm a desperate mommy right now. Yesterday our daughter, who just turned two, had an accident at the park. She chipped one of her top two front teeth, nearly 50%. The other top front tooth is quite loose and pushed out of position. We immediately went to her pediatric dentist, who gave us grim news. She said likely she'll loose both teeth, either by death of the teeth (and subsequent extraction), or by the teeth falling out on their own. She said that the loose tooth has a slight (20%?) chance of tightening up, but still may die. The chipped tooth does not appear to have gone to the nerve, because my daughter isn't complaining of cold or hot sensitivity. If the chipped tooth doesn't die, the dentist said it's possible to put a crown on it.

Well, I don't want to think "worst case scenario". I want my beautiful little girl to have all of her teeth until they're ready to come out on their own. Today I purchased some liquid calcium magnesium citrate to help strengthen the teeth, and some extra vitamin C tabs to help promote healing.

Is there anything else that you all can recommend that we do to help? I'm seeing a lot about xylitol, but don't know much about it. I plan to spend some time now researching, but I don't have much time, as we're leaving on Friday morning to go visit Grandma out of town. We can use a washcloth to gently wipe the injured teeth, or extremely gentle brushing after the cuts have healed. Not sure if xylitol is something that could help in our situation, but I'm certainly willing to try. If it's a good idea for us, I'd love some suggestions about what to buy and where.

Thanks so much for any suggestions for this newbie. I can't believe that it's been two years since my daughter was born, and I've never discovered these forums before.

Welcome Lori! I'm sorry to say that I don't have any experience with this situation, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you're going through this right now. How stressful!

I think tissue salts would be good for this situation. They are homeopathic so safe for little ones. I think there are 12 different tissue salts, each one is for something different and you can combine whichever you need for the symptoms. I googled and here's a web page with a bit of info http://www.h-e-c.com.au/tissue_salts.htm

You can buy a small book that contains in depth info about the tissue salts and then you would know which ones to give her.

What I like about them, is there are only 12 so way easier to figure out what you need than with typical homeopathic remedies. And for me, the tissue salts have worked every time I've used them and I can't say the same for homeopathic remedies (perhaps because I didn't have the right remedy?).

I hope your little one heals quickly!
