can you make finger weight worsted?

ok here is the task i have a tonnnnnnnnnnnnn of finger weight yarn so i made newborn mittens and want to make a matching hat the problem is i cant find a newborn hat pattern for fingering weight yarn?? can you find one or do you hvae one? or could i double strand it and it would be worsted??? HELP this is for my etsy store and I really want a hat to match the mittens

Do you have The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns?? You use whatever yarn and whatever needles you have and knit a gauge swatch and you can basically make a hat, gloves, mittens, etc . . . in whatever size you want. http://www.amazon.com/Knitters-Handy...3001436&sr=8-1

Highly recommended.

I've got the book. If you knit a swatch, I'd be willing to tell you how many to cast on if you'd like.

Sorry I don't have anything in the way of an already written pattern. I think this way, though, you can be much more creative especially since it's for your Etsy store. HTH.
