How far do you plan on taking Montessori?

Just curious.

Our plan has always been to have Teagan go through her Elementary years - we have had times we wonder if it will be possible due to finances but now it looks like things will pan out. She'll do her "Kindergarten" primary year at her current Montessori and will then have to move to a new one for the Elementary years. I am actually going on the 21st to tour one and see what we think.

We're going to take it one year at time and see how it goes. We are excited about Children's House and the school we like has a program through the 8th grade. It would be very, very expensive to send both boys for all that time, but we're keeping our options open. We will evaluate the local public and parochial options when the boys would be ready for 1st grade. I've also heard that 3rd and 6th grade are OK for transition points if needed.

We're taking it one year at a time. I do understand the three-year cycle and hope to keep our son in for at least the full casa, and then see, but he is little and we want to keep in touch with his needs, our life balance, and so on.

I think we have the wait and see attitude, too. If Montessori is a fit with all of my children, I'd definitely take it through 8th grade and pray a M high school opens up in our area. We are lucky to have a free charter M school with 5 different campuses here. Hopefully, we'll like what we see when our oldest starts kindy. Right now we are in the process of enrolling her into a pre-school program for 3-6 (she's 3), so we'll see how she does in the environment.

In theory they will stay at their current school through 6th grade; the only thing I don't like about this school is that I didn't get to go there. That said, who knows what the future holds and I may end up with a child who has needs or gifts that cannot be met at Montessori. I'll adapt as need be.

Our school is opening up the high school starting this fall.... so we could go all the way through if we so choose. I our school more than words can express, and I'm thrilled to have the option to keep them there through graduation.

But as with all things, like other pps have said, we'll take it year-by-year, kid-by-kid, and follow our children's needs.

right now we are committed to our ds completing primary. We'll re-evaluate whether to send him to elementary at that time. If it looks to be a good fit for our dd as well, she'll follow the same pattern.

I think at this point we've decided DD will go through 3rd grade, though things could change, she is only in pre-k now and will do her last year of children's house with her brother (in his first year) next year. However, our school only goes through 3rd, so I'm not sure what we will do after that, there are other options around that go through 8th.

I have no idea! My dd, almost 5, will be starting in a Montessori school in the fall, so we're very new to it.

This particular school goes all the way through 8th grade. For now, we plan to take it on a year-by-year basis. If it's working, great, well keep trying to afford it. If not, we'll consider other options.
