Of another podromal labor!
I had very spaced out contractions on Tuesday - enough for me to call dh at work and ask him to come home before the big storm just in case. Yesterday I had several contractions an hour all day. They picked up in the evening to every 4-8 minutes. It got to the point where I thought I should call my midwife and parents to let them know to be prepared (icy roads!). Shortly after I made the call - my contractions spaced out again. Then picked up again. Then spaced out again. Finally I decided to go to bed and try to sleep. I had contraction-filled dreams and finally got out of bed again to see if I was actually having contractions or just dreaming. Contractions were coming eveyr 8-10 minutes and were intense. Then Zachary got up. Zachary is our early riser. My body immediately said, "ok, there's a child to take care of now - contractions will space out again." and I've been having sporadic contractions ever since. I was SO hoping to give dd the Valentine's Day baby she's been hoping for, but I most likely won't birth this baby for another day or two (and I'm already 41 weeks!). I'm off to take a shower and get ready for my midwife appointmet - 45 minutes away! - and see what ideas she has for getting things to progress so that maybe, just maybe I can avoid another 3 day labor (2 out of 4 of my kids were 3 day labors!).
