My 2.5 year seems to pick things up from my 5 year old and take them to a whole different level. It has gotten a bit out of control lately and I don't know how to handle it.
An example-I believe my dh once told ds1 that he would throw a toy in the garbage if ds1 didn't care enough about it to keep ds2 and the dog from wrecking it. Ds1 starts saying "I'll throw you in the garbage and you'll never get out" to ds2 when he's mad at him. Ds2 starts saying it as well. Says it a lot, and keeps saying it long after ds1 has quit saying it.
Ds2 also says "Gavin is angry" and "Gavin is crying" which I believe are positive things. Not sure how to feel about him saying "Bang you" or "Bite you". It's good that he doesn't actually do it (usually), but not the nicest things to be saying.
I talk to them about it a lot. Not nice to say "shut up", try "be quiet, please". "I will listen to you when you're ready to speak nicely to me". Etc.
Obviously I'm doing something wrong or I'm not consistent enough or something, because it just seems to be getting worse. Any words of advice?
