Hypnobabies?

I did a home-study Hypnobirthing class with my first.

With the twins, I took a physcial Hypnobirthing class.

I thought both were great and served me well in labor. I didn't particularly get more out of the class than the home-study, but I might have had I taken it with my first.

Anyway, this time around, part of me is tempted to say, "I already know how to birth a baby." But part of me also wants to be sure I take preparing for this birth seriously!

I've heard great things about Hypnobabies (versus Hypnobirthing), and I'm tempted to order the home-study Hypnobabies class. I think having something new might inspire me to follow through with preparation. However, the course is somewhat expensive.

What do you think: Would I do best just to brush off my Hypnobirthing materials (that have served me well) and re-use them? Or should I give Hypnobabies a go?

Thanks!

I didn't use any hypnosis first time around, but have purchased the Hypnobabies home study course for this time. Haven't started it yet, so cannot comment on it really and haven't used Hypnobirthing. But I remember when researching it reading about how Hypnobabies maybe allows for more morevement and active labour, where maybe Hypnobirthing you generally remain more still. ? Sorry, cannot recall, I bought it long before I was pregnant. I'll be starting it soon. I've also heard the fear release section is very good.

I never did the Hypnobirthing so I can't compare them but did Hypnobabies and did like it very much. It was the first time I've ever done any type of hypnosis. I'll be using it again in conjunction with other methods that I want to learn about including Bradley and the methods from Birthing From Within. It does make a lot of sense to have a whole 'bag' of tricks instead of just one and hope that that is the one that works.

I just dusted off my old Hypnobirthing CDs. I figured I should give them a try before investing in something new. Our old lists of fears and goals were with the CDs, and it was really fun to read what concerned my husband and me before we had any children.

Interesting idea, Cynthia, to really reach more broadly when looking at different approaches. I assume Hypnobabies is pretty similar to Hypnobirthing... Maybe I should look at more different approaches.

I used hypnobabies for ds and I thought it really helped. Unfortunately my ds was breech with a foot in the canal and therefore had to be taken c-sec. I was in active labor for 10 hours and don't recall pain. I had surges that were strong but I was in a very relaxed state. furthermore when it came out that there complications and I needed a c-sec I was calm and centered. It also helped with healing afterward and adjusting to life with a infant.

I also used Birthing From Within and found it helpful. There is a great book called Mothering the Mother. I recommend as well, especially for first time moms.
