Help! I need a swimsuit!

We're headed on vacation next Saturday morning and while I can still fit in my old bikini, I'd rather have two and I wouldn't mind the extra tummy coverage (I burn badly... surely that's not good for stretch mark prevention?) I ordered the maternity tankini from Old Navy (about $25 for both pieces!) and while I think I can make it work, there isn't a whole lot of support for the girls (I'm a 34D) so I'm still not very comfortable in it. I'd love to be able to get one now that I can wear in the summer too. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might find a supportive and cute maternity suit in a week, preferably one that doesn't cost $70-100?

Thanks!!!

none of the ones I have tried have any support ( apparently pg. woman do not have big boobs or something) I do not really have any suggestions for a cute suit but if you put a bra or a supportive bikini top under the suit it will help. I understand your problem trust me i swim 2 times a week and I am current ly a 36f heading for a 36G. the other problem is tummy support you would think some one would think "hey not only do PG have big Boobs they may need something to support that belly of there's." Good luck.

Thanks for convincing me I'm not crazy. I just ordered this suit and of course couldn't take advantage of the free shipping because it would take too long. But it looks like it might have some more support. The thing I hate with the tankinis and the molded cups is that there isn't anything to hold them down underneath the boobs and then I end up with underboob sagging out the bottom of the cups. Have these people never heard of underwire????

Sounds like it might be too late but I love love love my maternity tankini from Target (Liz Lange). It has plenty of coverage (cut sort of like a 1950s glamour girl suit!) and support, at least for me, although I am not very large-breasted. It's so comfy that I have considered just retiring all other swimwear even when I'm not pregnant! I wore it the whole time last time.

Your timing is perfect because the suit I ordered today is Liz Lange for Target! So I'm hoping that this suit lives up to yours! There were a bunch on msn shopping that were discontinued and it seemed like the current selection was pretty small, but it should only take one if it's the right one, right?

So far everything I've bought is returnable to the stores - and I haven't thrown away any of the tags, bags, etc... so we'll just see. :

I bought 2 expensive maternity suits (UK brands) and neither of them were any good! The first was a tankini, which had really tight elastic around the waistband - I'd bought a size up and it was still too tight at 17 weeks, so I can't see how it would've lasted me long! The top half had support but was quite short, and the super-tight waistband came to precisely mid-bump, where an over- or under-bump would've been soooo much more comfortable. It was like it hadn't even been designed for pregnancy, let alone specifically FOR pregnancy!!

So I sent that one back (losing out on a load of shipping costs) and bought a one piece style with ruched sides so it'll accommodate my growing bump - it's fine bump-wise, but it's really low cut at the back which means the sides gape and I have half a boob hanging out each side, and that's not exactly the look I'm going for. I'm used to the lack of support issue (I'm a 38F even when I'm not pg) but lack of coverage??

For lack of support - if it really becomes a problem, you could do what I used to do in the days before cute swimwear with any support, and wear two bikini tops, one under another, in colors or patterns that go together. Nobody ever seemed to notice and it certainly made me feel more secure.

So although I've kept the half-boob exposing suit as it's comfortable once I'm in the pool and swimming, I went and bought a regular tankini as well. I got one designed for tall girls, and bought a size too big. It's got a great longer-length top that provides plenty of cover for my bump, and the shorts aren't too tight - I'm planning to replace the elastic with a drawstring when I get bigger/have time. It's 100 times more comfortable than any of the maternity swimwear I've found, and was far cheaper.

What a timely thread! I actually have the Old Navy Tankini in my shopping cart right now, and was thinking about it when I came accross this post. I'm going to take a look at Target now. Thanks!!

My Target suit came yesterday and while it isn't perfect, it's so much better! I am keeping it. There's a lot more support for the girls and plenty of room for the bump, even if it is a little 'boobalicious' as we say at our house. It only comes in black, which wouldn't really be my first choice, but it will get the job done.

A girlfriend of mine also brought over a bag of clothes that had two swimsuits in it - there was a maternity bikini in there from one of her friends in a brand I've never heard of before - i)m? But it fits and its supportive and more flattering on the bottom than my regular bikini. So I think I'll have 2 choices for the beach!

Good luck to everyone who's still looking! Warm weather, here we come!
