Eyes open when crowning? - Page 2

I've seen it, I've also seen babies making rooting motions as soon as the head is out while they are still rotating.

While crowning though, would be impossible until the actual head is out unless a face presentation. And the faces I've seen have their face all squished up and look miserable, it's not nice pushing yourself out with your face!

My husband said our son's head came out partway with his eyes open and looking around and then went back in. He found it neat and creepy.
Is that stage not crowning? What is it called?
