Still Waiting... 40weeks 5days

I have not been posting much, but I check in every now and then.

Anyhow, I'm almost a week over due and I just can't wait for the baby to come! Its exciting and making me crazy at the same time. Its just hard to wait. I've been walking, hoping it will help to get things going, but nothing yet. I'm planning a homebirth with a midwife, and this is our first baby.

I love seeing everyones birth stories. Its reassuring to know that the baby WILL come when the time is right.

Is there anyone else out there counting down the days? And what are you doing - are you able to relax, or are you trying to speed things up??

I am relaxing and trying to speed things up. crazy I know. hang in there!

I've been doing everything I can think of to speed it up! I know that they come when they are ready, but I am SOOOOOOOOO ready! I've been drinking 2 cups of red raspberry leaf tea, brewed double strong a day. Taking 2 evening primrose oil capsules in the morning, as well as 2 as a suppository in the evening. I've been walking, and trying sex when it's bearable. I tried castor oil once, to no avail. I'm not sure if I'll risk it again. It wasn't unbearable, and it did cause some contractions, but not enough. I know that I am dilating because I lost my plug, but no real contractions to speak of. The skin on my stomach is about to peel off and march away in protest!

I'm not nearly as far along as you (I'm only 38.3) but am swinging back and forth between wild anticipation and feeling peaceful about it. One day I will be completely relaxed and cool with the baby coming whenever, the next I am going nuts wishing I had SOME clue when this was going to happen!! I did some nipple stim last night but I am not really interested in pushing it at this point (I mean, I'm only 38 weeks -- it's silly). I am just so up and down about it. Reading the birth stories is so fantastic but then I get a huge pang of longing to have my own!!

Hang in there, mama! It's great to remember that it is a wonderful thing to be able to keep babe in there for so long... at lots of births as a doula I've really seen the difference between a 38 week and a 41 week old baby. They are often really much more ready to make the transition smoothly, breathe easily, and pick up nursing better. So that's something to be excited about, anyway.

Doesn't make the waiting easier or change the excitement to have this baby already! But I always tell people that anyway, lol. I'm not technically due till the very end of the month, so I'm trying to be a little ready but mostly just expecting to wait a while. It's a hard balance to strike!
