For those of you who have been reading the daily check-ins, you already know that I was 4 cm dilated, 75% effaced and ready to drop the baby out last weekend, especially after lots of prodromol labor. Well, then I woke up on Monday and was SICK AS A DOG, and have been dead to the world all week...praying each day to NOT go into labor, even as I passed my due date by yesterday (2/14).
Well, I went to the doc today, and she took one look at me and said that there was no way it was the flu if I was still so sick after 5 days. It definitely had to be a bad viral infection. So the good news is that now I know why I don't feel better at all on day 5. The bad news is that she said these things just have to run their course, and all I can do is rest and hydrate.
TGIF because with DH home this weekend, I can finally get some uninterrupted rest (ain't it great how mamas can't take a sick day!) So I am headed to bed now, and am praying that labor will still hold off another few days, or maybe a week or more.
I'm still a complete 4 cm and 75% effaced with a very soft (but still posterior) cervix, but I have been SO inactive (there goes all that posturing from spinningbabies.com down the drain, baby has moved completely to the right this week) that I think that is helping stall labor.
Interestingly, after so much early labor last weekend, my body pretty much shut down on Mon as far as labor prep goes, and I had NO ctx Mon, Tues, or Wed. They started up a bit yesterday, and today I had more and even have a bit of cramping, but it's still nothing like last weekend, so I may still get a little while out of this pregnancy, if I am lucky.
Anyway, just wanted to post a more clear update than the 1- to 2-liners I've been managing on the daily check-ins.
Though I've been too sick to keep up much, know that I have been thinking of you all this week and of these little babes who are so close now!!
Thanks for listening!
