Where will we go when our group gets shut down? - Page 2

Sounds to me like lwab is the preferred choice. I agree, MDC has been a bit frustrating as of late, but I love the resources that are all concentrated here. Especially since I'm a first time mom, I'm a bit inclined to stay here, I know I'll be here anyway, and we always have the yahoo group to fall back on.

I can't imagine going through all this without you ladies, let's do our best to stick together. It's the nature of things to change over time but transitions are important.

As a slight random aside, what other forums do you often post in? I haven't strayed much from our little DDC but have started to try to post outside of it in hopes of setting up more support for after the baby is born. Suggestions??

I hope nobody minds if I tag along wherever we go even though Terran was born on January 18. I feel so loved, appreciated, and accepted here. It has been an honour to share my amazing journey with all of you.

This DDC included so many mamas who I had encountered before and wanted to get to know better as well as new faces who became close friends over the months. I don't want to lose you,.

Lilyblossom, I'm kind of wandering about forlornly wondering what comes next, but I show up occaisionally in LWAB, the EC and breastfeeding forums, and once in awhile in the babywearing forums. I'm also in the teen forum because of my other children and sometimes on TAO if I'm lonely and just want to chat.

In my experience, DDCs stay active throughout the first year in LWAB, and usually through the first year or so of Toddlers, but not much after that on MDC; That's when they shift to hyperactive Yahoo! Groups. I miss BooBah's June '04 group, that was a really fun bunch and it just sort of fizzled out... but i wasn't quite as active in Bella's April '06 group and Bean's Nov/Dec '02 group is still very active on Yahoo!Groups.

My only request is that the last post to any thread be a link to the new thread... I lose track without those linkidoos.

Other fora-- I occasionally read in others, but don't do too much posting outside of Parenting the Gifted Child and Learning at Home and Beyond. Those two, and the DDC, probably account for 90% of my non-regular MDC posts these days. The rest are all tribes/groups to which I've belonged for ages (i.e. Jewish moms, moms of color, etc). There are fora which I avoid at all costs just because, but for the most part I don't do more reading/posting because I know I'd be on MDC all freaking day, and I'm trying to have a real life. I have to limit myself somehow, or I'd do nothing else.

As far as other forums go, I tend to get online, check parenting to see what my moms of many are up to, toddlers to check in on the Nov05 mamas and then down here to you lot (in that order) then down to yarn crafts. Two forums and two threads can take three hours, though, at the moment :

I would also prefer to stay on MDC as a first time mom, the resources here are great, and I lurk or post in many places.

But most importantly, I would like to keep our DDC together. I have learned so much about all of you and from each of you. It's funny, recently my MW offered to do an exam to see if I am dialated, effaced, etc. And I replied that even if I am effaced, dialated, it won't mean much, right? She laughed and said, "You are really well read!" So thanks to all of you. Being in this DDC has made a huge difference in my level of confidence as I make the sometimes scary and overwhelming transition into Motherhood.

NOS: I hope you do stay with us. I appreciate your posts.
