Ok, so this might be long but hopefully some of you might be able to provide some advice.
I graduated from college with a degree in Int'l Politics in 2006. I worked for a year and then I went back to school to do pre-med classes because I wanted to catch babies. My intention is/was to become an OB/GYN. I will be done with my pre-med classes in May and then will apply to med school in June.
HOWEVER, lately, I have been feeling drawn to midwifery. Actually, its pretty much been since right after I started the pre-med classes a year ago.
But, I am afraid to change my mind AGAIN.
It has cost a lot to go back to school to do this and now I feel like I've wasted even more money so I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and stick to my OB/GYN plan. I am also afraid of what my fam would say because they have helped me out monetarily as well, so I feel like I would be a big disappointment (they are really looking forward to me being a doctor).
I have also considered becoming a FP who also does obstetrics because the FP model of obstetrics is more closely aligned with midwifery and I could help patients that wanted a different experience than what they could get from an OB/GYN.
If I were to change my mind again, how would I tell my fam? Ugh, could someone tell them for me?
: lol
Anyways, any opinions?
