Toddler woke up sick 2/17 & I'll be induced 2/20! NEED NATURAL & QUICK REMEDIES!

Great! My toddler (age 2) woke up with a cough, sore throat (I'm assuming), and swollen glands (that's what they're called right, in the neck?)... anyway...

So usually I fight things off w/ vitamin C, but she won't take it & it's hard to trick her (putting it in juice, etc... plus, I don't want to give her juice now).

So I thought I'd look online to see if I'd be wasting my time to look at the local natural food store for liquid vitamin c... turns out they make it! Has anyone had any good experiences with liquid vitamin c and making sickness heal much quicker?

Or any other natural ideas? She won't drink that Airborne stuff or any other effervescent stuff. Whatever I give her has to be quick & painless. If it's liquid & a small quantity, I think I could force her to take it, but powdery just doesn't work. She's only 2 & it's hard to get her to do things like that.

Thanks

my two will take anything I tell them is medicine that will make them feel better (as opposed to yucky medicine that could hurt them)

not sure if the Emergen-C stuff counts as powder effervecent stuff but I have packets of the Tropical flavor and it is pretty yummy.

For the swollen glands- massage from Momma would be my favorite and for the cough- a humidifier (not sure if steam or cool air is best...)

And lots and lots of fluids.

If little one is congested eucalyptus oil mixed with a carrier oil (almond oil, etc) rubbed on chest would be very comforting.

I am a big fan of grapefruit seed extract, just afew drops! Mix it well with her favorite juice. Popcicles are always a sore throat/cough soother. Humidifers or warm showers help, good luck.

honey is soothing for a sore throat, lemon is a good astringent but you may have a harder time with that. Will she drink hot tea with lemon and honey? There are all sorts of teas that can help boost her immune system too.

Good luck!

Sambucus is great for flu/chest colds. I had the same thing happen with ds..got sick and I was due any day...I get it in a tincture and just have to give him one dropperful. Also, they do make bottles (I think Reliadose is the name?) that you can buy at the drugstore that have 2 chambers (on for medicine, one for juice, water, milk) so that the little one never tastes the medicine, just the drink. If your dd will take a bottle at all that might be a way to get some Vit C in her- you can just get powdered Vit C. and mix it with water). Hylands makes Vit. C pellets that taste like Lemon that ds loves, he thinks they're candy. You'll also want to definately get as much probiotics in her as possible. Open some caps and mix them in her food, have her eat lots of yogurt. Best of luck!
