Sunday: cousins are over playing with dd, so we had a make-your-own-pizza night
Monday: Dorowat (an Ethiopian chicken dish) & rice
Tuesday: Tacos, beans, and corn cake
Wednesday: Chicken crepes, Caesar salad, mixed veggies
Thursday: grilled porkchops, candied carrots
Friday: vegetarian lasagne
Saturday: eat out (I work at the library until 5:00)

Breakfast: nothing for dd (she won't eat until mid-morning snack at school), olives, feta cheese & bread for dh, yogurt for mom, waffle for me.

Lunch: sandwiches or leftovers & my mom and I go out together for lunch once a week (she lives with us). I usually try a new recipe for a lunch every week or two. This week it is a pasta with mushrooms, fresh basil & chicken in a smoked gouda cream sauce.

How was it? That sounds great, do you have a recipe?

I'm actually taking a break from meal planning to try a different way of shopping/cooking.

I made an inventory list of everything we might possibly need to cook whatever we want to eat on any given day, and I'm just going to inventory my pantry/fridge/freezer before my grocery trips so that I can replace what we've run out of. Of course, if I do come across a recipe I want to try that we don't stock the stuff for, I'll add that to the list, but other than that, we're sticking to the basics. I'm going to post my inventory list in another thread in case anyone's interested.

Yes, I would be. We are spending TOO MUCH on food lately, I need to get back to cooking simple.

Rachel, I posted it here.

I think meal planning was costing us waaay more money than this method will. I spent $160 this weekend to get everything stocked up, and I estimate that I'll probably only spend $80 or so each week replacing what we use.
