Gobecgo - Yes! I am extremely near Macclesfield...it's the nearest largeish town to me. Did you live there for long? You're one of the lucky ones who escaped by the sounds of it!

I lived there until i was 5, then we moved to Scotland. I have been here since, mum and dad moved back in 1998, mum died in 2005 and dad moved in 2006 to Yorkshire. Where are you then? Knutsford? POSH! LOL.

No...not Knutsford! I could keep you guessing...not Prestbury, Wilmslow or Alderley Edge...

Hmmm, big place or little place?

My next guesses would be Leek, Rainow or Congleton... Or i guess Wilmslow, but you're getting up against Stockport then. And it depends too on if you're counting Buxton as a town or not. My brother used to work in Buxton - he's in Stockport now. My other 3 brothers are all in Macc still

It's not Cheadle or Cheadle Hulme is it? My family's recent history, such as it is, is in Cheadle and Cheadle Hulme!

Closer than Leek and Congleton - about the same distance as Rainow...I wonder if I know any of your brothers!

Oh my goodness - really?! I'm an American as well, and I've lived in Blantyre with my family (dh - British, and 4 kiddos) since 2001!

What brings you to Blantyre (and where were you before that?)?

And here's the reason I've been digging around in the Finding our Tribe Area (I don't usually have time):

Here is a video that Democrats Abroad is trying to spread far and wide - it is very easy to register to vote from abroad, and more important than ever in this election year.

I vote in Virginia, which all the polls suggest is very close - I'll definitely be getting my ballot in! If you are American and living abroad, please make sure to request your ballot soon so that you can vote in this very important election:

Just a reminder for all of us ex-pats - get your ballot request forms in (the Democrats Abroad site makes it very easy to fill in the necessary form) pronto so you'll be able to vote in November!

I'm in Greenwich right now (Blackheath), but as I mentioned several posts down, I am hoping to move to Brockley soon. Our offer on a place was accepted, so it's with the solicitors now. I hope they hurry-- I'm planning a homebirth at the end of Oct and a home is required!

Bella, where are you moving from?

Hello!

We just moved to Milton Keynes. Living in the UK is so EASY (yet expensive!) after 6 years in Germany! I'm American, DH is French and we have 4 kids.

Hello, Plaid Leopard! I saw your name, and thought...but doesn't she live in Germany?

Oxford!

We're US expats, too, originally from near Seattle and near Santa Barbara. We've been here just shy of seven years.

Oooo there are possibly a few of us in this area (ish) now... should we plan for a, um, meet of some sort?

(although there is no train between oxford/mk/bedford/cambridge, there is a darn good bus service.....)
