We're in Tulse Hill...do you go up to the Brandram Road Community Centre on Thursdays? We were thinking of heading up there today but coughing children needed to stay home.

Maybe we'll meet up sometime!

Hi all

I'm Chantelle, mama to 6mo Matthew and I live with my hubby in Berkshire. I'm originally from Perth, Australia. I've been lurking on MDC since before I was pregnant!

Kind of lonely here in England, all of my family is back home in Oz. My DHs family is here and live within 5 minutes drive of us, but my parenting philosophies are a bit different from my Sis-in-law. She is a lovely person and I get along swimmingly with her, but she is very scheduled with her kids and quite mainstream.

I think that SIL and MIL (and the other mamas I know through church) think I'm a little batty for breastfeeding on demand, co-sleeping, babywearing, delayed-vaxing (maybe never), homebirthing (even tho I got transferred to hospital - long story short I could have done it at home if I had waited a little longer). And also because I refuse to take anything that is said to me at face value and do my own research before I decide on an issue eg Vaxing.

My mum is a little more crunchy and I inherited her fiestiness. But she is thousands of miles away

Anyway, enough rambling - I guess now I have posted I'll have to post more often If anyone is in my area - I'd love to know

Hi Chantelle We are in the south-ish of Oxfordshire only about 20 minutes away from the M4 junction at Chieveley north Berks.

My SIL is in Thatcham just by Newbury but she is nowhere near crunchy despite asking my advice on this and that but going in the opposite direction. Each to their own! There is a good breastfeeding support group around Newbury now I think so that might be a way to find like minded folks.

I'm in South Bucks - also not too far away!

We really should get together!

Chantelle, I'm in Swindon but DH works in Thatcham.

We really should do a get-together, shouldn't we? I hadn't realised there were so many of us in a relatively compact area.

Hi all! I'm new to the site. I'm English but currently living in Maine, USA, but I grew up in Devon in a little village called Combeinteignhead just outside of Exeter, and before i moved here I was at University in Cambridge. I'm now pregnant and REALLY REALLY homesick... DH is English, too

That's a great name for a village. Beats No Place any day. Come back here, Zubee, I know a great midwife down that way...

What is there to do in Newbury? Or Reading, or somewhere more Swindon end of the M4?

Welcome pixielou! I must say it is nice to see someone else pop up in Essex as I don't know of any other MDC-ers around here. All very mainstream hereabouts. We're in West Essex, near the end of the tube. And enjoying a remarkably sunny day today!

Could be, but it would have to be schools holidays.
