Is is safe to have one's teeth cleaned by a dentist while nursing? I have no access to a holistic dentist, only a regular/mainstream one. TIA for any info!

it's recommended to get a cleaning while preg, so i would assume that it's totally safe while nursing.

I had one done when dd was 6 months. Was told it was safe. Nothing chemical used, just mechanical force. It's a good idea to do before babe's teeth come (correlation between caries in mothers and babes, however my lack of cavities didn't seem to help us!).

I just had my teeth cleaned after 5 years of putting it off! I'm nursing my toddler and my hygentist said that my gums would be extra sensitive because of the nursing hormones. And they were! But other than that it was perfectly fine.

I've wondered about whether any extra mercury from my fillings was worn off from the cleaning process, but other than that, I think it's fine.
