OK, all you Picky Pants experts...

I completed my first pair of LTK Picky Pants (there's a pic on my blog, should you for some reason be interested in seeing them). My oh my, what an awesome pattern. It just makes me happy.

I have one question, though. It has you cast on two extra stitches (in the "small" size, at least, I haven't gotten that far on the "mediums" I'm working right now), but when they have you stitch up the crotch, they never mention what to do with those two stitches, so I ended up with one hole on the inside of either leg. It wasn't a big deal, I just stitched 'em up and it looks and stretches OK, but am I missing something? The pattern is so complete and well thought-out, I find it hard to believe they didn't mention what to do there, but I'll be darned if I can find it.

You know, I made a few pairs with those little holes in it, too, and wondered the same thing. In EZ's Knitting Without Tears I read about choosing the right place to pick up stitches, a place that's nice and tight already, and that doesn't stretch too much when you put stress on it. By following that advice--picking up not those two cast-on stitches but rather a ladder or two away from them--my crotch grafting got much neater. I thought everyone else just knew that and I was the one who had to have it spelled out for her!

But you're right, the pattern is amazing in every other way. And yours are super sweet in that beautiful blue!

That was my plan for this pair... add extra stitches off either end of the crotch. I just kept following the directions thinking they'd mention it in the "finishing" section or something.

Thanks, everyone.

it's there Toward the bottom of page 17, in the kitchener section, it explains how you'll use the two cast on stitches in the kitchener set-up to incorporate the grafting to the legs and eliminate any hole
