Yesterday was DS's second birthday and marked the second anniversary of the start of the greatest relationship of my life!
Yesterday our WHOLE family (including my lactivist mom, but that'll be my next post
) went to see Elmo Live and it was just a weird scheduling day with the show and his party etc. so by the time we got to the show Andrew had had some kind of funky quasi nap and was a little foggy. We sat down in our seats which were in the first row of the second level about 15 feet off of the floor and everyone could see us. He immediately snuggled up to me and asked for "other" (he picked that up because I always asked him if he was ready for the 'other one") So I settled him in and within 30 seconds an usher come up and asked asked that I "do that somewhere else because this place is full of kids." Let me just tell you that I have the smallest chest ever and I had on a sweater with a nursing tank under it and DS is into covering his head with my shirt so you saw nothing.
Before I could say a word DH was on his feet but I interjected and thanked the usher for his suggestion but firmly told him that there was nothing wrong with what I was doing and that by asking me to move that he was violating my son's legal and civil rights. He said he was concerned that someone would complain and I told him that if someone did he would just have to explain that our state laws protects the right of my son to eat in public, no matter what he's in the mood for
:. He was shocked and thanked me for explaining my position so rationally. WooHoo!!!!!
