I am so unbelievably proud of my mom that I had to share it with someone and I knew you mommas would appreciate this more than anyone.
I was a flight attendant when I met DH, I quit and became a paralegal when we decided to start a family. My mom is still a flight attendant for a major airline. This week she was working a flight from L.A. to D.C. and a woman came up to mom and explained that she was traveling without her DC and needed to pump and asked if it was ok to use the restroom for a while. Mom told the momma that she could if she wanted to but that mom was sure that she could find a better place for her. So she told the lady to hang on for a few minutes and after she finished her service my mom made up a little lactation room in between the front galley and the cockpit door with the drapes and a jumpseat. Now, my mom has always been super supportive (we're still nursing, 2 years as of yesterday!!) but she's never been a raging lactivist so I was so proud that she went out of her way to help this momma.
Well, not two minutes after mom closes the curtain on the lady the Captain calls up and says he wants to come out and stretch his legs and use the restroom. Do you remember where this woman is pumping?? So mom calmly tells the Captain that he'll have to wait about 10 or 15 minutes because there is a woman lactating in her galley
:
. Apparently he wasn't quite sure what to say so he just told her to call when the lactating was complete.
Anyway, she finished up and mom fixed her up with some dry ice to make sure her milk stayed fresh and everyone was happy
