I'm crocheting a baby blanket (for my now 3-1/2-year-old son, but that's beside the point) out of 100% cotton yarn (you should feel this stuff, it is SOOO soft!). When I wash and inevitably dry this blanket, is it going to shrink up into a matted mess like wool yarn would?

100% cotton won't mat up (AKA "felt") but it will shrink if you put it in the dryer. Some cottons will shrink a lot--make a test swatch and run it through to give yourself an idea of the final washed & dried product.
Don't forget to show us a pic when you are finished!

: Long story short, I ended up making the width of the blanket way too big and it was taking me way too long to finish it (obviously), and the store quit selling the yarn I was using, so this weekend I pulled the whole thing apart and am starting over. I have 3 rows done!
