AK- I've been knitting twisted all this time!

Ok, so I’ve always said that I enjoy purling more than knitting. I also always tend to use a lot less yarn than a pattern calls for. And of course, I’ve been told I knit “weird” by more than one person. Finally I figured out- I’m a combination knitter! I went to Annie Modesitt’s class at the knitout and couldn’t figure out what she was doing and how that was different- the thing is that its not different from me at all! Thats what I’ve always done and didn’t even know it!! The downside- I never knew this also meant I was supposed to be doing k tbl all this time so every project I’ve done flat in stockinette has had twisted stitches, which is what it seemed like but I never knew why, I thought I was just a loose knitter! But I’m not!! I actually just was twisting my knit stitches so it made my guage off. DOH! I’ve got a very lovely cardi I’m working on for Alison right now and WOW without twisted stitches its amazing I’m so happy I figured this out!!!

I think I knit "weird" too- although it's not exactly combo knitting... I've decided not to worry about it until I need to- what I'm doing seems to be working just fine so far!

I made this discovery about myself a few months ago. I was doing the same thing you were, purling combination style, but not knitting tbl. I kept looking at the videos at knitting help and wondering why her purl motion looked different from mine.

Reformed combination knitter here. I keep trying to go back to it, though, and I can't
