Newborn dipes and closures?

I just sewed up some fitteds and am also getting some prefolds & covers for this little one. The thing is, having never cd'd a newborn, I'm wondering if I should go ahead and add the aplix, or just use snappis/pins until the cord falls off? It seems the snappis/pins would allow me to fold down the front a bit until the cord is gone, then I could sew on aplix if I wanted.

What do all you seasoned mamas think?

I would just go ahead a sew it on now for two reasons: I find that prefolds fit better than anything else the first few weeks anyhow so I've always ended up using those primarily the first few days anyway and also you might not have time once babe is here. HTH

My favorite thing to put on my newborn were my fitted sherpa diapers I made without closures. I folded down the front the first week or two, then they fit normally. Pinning is super easy in tiny babies since they don't move, and I only needed one pin. I find pinning faster than snaps, and almost as fast as Aplix. I also loved using PFs (I was shocked by that), so I did not use aplix or snaps the first few months at all!
