Homemade Foaming Handwash?

Thread Starter
I've bought Bath and Body Works foaming hand wash in the past, but don't want to do that anymore. Does anyone know how to make it? Also, I could reuse their plastic bottles to make it foamy, but are there better non-plastic alternatives on the market?

I also wondered if there's a good recipe for making a mattress/pillow refresher with essential oils (I'm assuming I would need to add water or something).

Thanks!

I don't think the soap itself is anything special when you have a self foaming product. It is the pump that makes it foam. So, you could just put some Dr. Bronner's soap into the old foam container and fill the rest with water and you would be all set.

I know you can buy self foaming bottles on-line, but I don't know of any particular sites. Try google-ing self-foaming bottles and see what pops up for you.

I've tried Dr. Bronner's liquid soap and it is so strong...makes my skin very dry...why is this? Should i add water to it? Sorry to highjack this thread..but i saw the comment on Dr. B's and thought i'd chime in.

I think just about any liquid soap added to water will work. I have done it with Dr. Bronner's and also with California Baby body wash. Each time, I put water in the bottle and then added soap until I got a solution that foamed the way I wanted it to.

Can you re-use the B&BW foaming pump, if you still have one around? My foaming pump is one that came with a mainstream soap inside.

I use Dr. B's oh just a good healthy squirt then the rest is water, it foams great and the $6 bottle of Dr. B's has lasted me for months. IMO Dr. B's is best waaaaay diluted so the foamer is a perfect application.

I have CA baby in another foamer for the girls bath. DD#1 loves using it and I don't worry about it being too strong for DD #2. Our $11 jub of CA baby has lasted since July and will last at least another 8 or so months.

I loooove my foamers.

I've been reusing my foam dispensers after using up the conventional soap inside. I make a mixture of Dr. Bronner's soap, aloe vera gel and vit E. If you want to add EO you could do that too. I think I used 1/4 a cup of Dr.B, a good couple of squirts aloe and then a little bit of vit E in a cup, mixed it together and then added it to my bottle, filling the rest of the way up with distilled water. It seems to be working just fine and I haven't had the problem of drying out my hands any more than regular soap does in the winter time.

I have been using Method dish soap in mine. I just squirt some Method in, and then fill up the rest of the way with water. I guess about an inch from the bottom full of soap. Works great! Lasts forever I don't know about non-plastic containers though.

You can use any liquid soap diluted heavily with water. I reuse my Method containers by putting in not quite a teaspoon of castille soap (like dr. B's) and fill the rest with water. Easy peasy and so cheap!!!
