I'd love to know too. Rapadura is just the trade name for evaporated cane juice, right?

We buy this brand sucanat/rapadura at our local Food Co-Op. Fred Meyer also has it.

I buy Rapadura from my farmer, he has a natural foods store.

Taedareth, is Sucanat the same thing? Rapadura is powdery, it looks just like powdered iced tea mix - is that what Sucanat looks like?

Rapadura is a brand name of the unrefined cane sugar from the Rapunzel company. Sucanat is the brand name from Wholesome Sweeteners. Sucanat is larger granules, and IME doesn't dissolve or disperse as well in many things (like baked goods). Rapadura is more finely ground. Nutritionally, they're probably about equal, and taste very similar.

Most of the natural food stores in my area carry Rapadura and Sucanat.

evaporated cane juice can be different things. (at least IME, since i regularly order both from either the co-op or the bulk foods store). like others i prefer Rapadura to Sucanat, but i think they are much the same thing.

I buy Rapadura in 33 lbs bags from either the co-op route or the local health food store in bulk. i get a discount if i order the whole bag for myself. i dont use 33lbs very quickly- we are talking years. I store it, like my other staples, in 6 gallon food buckets with gamma lids.

The evaporated cane juice that I see at the HFS is not the same as the Sucanat I buy. ECJ is off-white and so is obviously more refined than the dark brown Sucanat.

I find mine in bulk at the local independent HFS. The big HFS doesn't seem to have it in their bulk section.
