Losing her teeth

The dentist said today that her two front teeth that are rotting out have to go. They are scheduled to be removed on Thursday next week. I am absolutely devastated at that news, and think that perhaps the dentist is being overly aggressive because she knows we're still nursing. But of course I'm especially sensitive about the subject. Anyway, today at my DD's appointment, I was thinking she was just going to fix the tooth, but she kept pushing on it and said, "see, there's no tooth left" until there really was no tooth left, just the root left in her mouth that needs to be retrieved now. I almost passed out holding my daughter in my lap. It was just too much for me to take in all at once. I took her into the dentist as soon as I suspected decay. Why did it take them so long to fix her problems? This is a recurring problem and happened with my DH as well, who now needs a partial denture because of how long it took to get things fixed.

DH's friend is a dentist. He is calling him right away to get a second opinion. It's too late to save the one tooth, but maybe we can save the other. We would be seeing him if our insurance covered him, and we will switch to the other dental plan next month during open enrollment.

I've been crying so much today for my poor baby girl.

If it makes you feel better-
When I was 4, I had all 4 front top teeth pulled and a few molars capped because of abcess and decay.
My adult teeth grew in fine, and except for an impacted wisdom tooth and one really tiny crooked tooth, I haven't had a problem since.

Definitely switch dentists.
