what do you do for dry, warm place?

so, a lot of times, for soaking or preparing something, in NT, it calls for a dry, warm place.

for example, i'm making creme fraiche, and i need it to sit in a dry, warm place for 20-24 hours. so, do i put it in the oven on warm overnight (it's quite cool here), or it is okay on the countertop?

i've been soaking grains and beans in my slow cooker set on warm over night, but this won't work for the glass jar with creme fraiche...

thanks!!!!

I put my creme fresh on a shelf in the living room near the heater vent. It's warmer in there than it is in the kitchen. Never had a problem doing it that way.

I ferment stuff in the oven with the light turned on. If you have a gas oven, you don't need to turn the light on.

I have an airing cupboard that I use as my warm, dry place. I wrap whatever container I'm using in a towel or a thick sweater and put it in the middle of the cupboard so the warm air circulates around it.

I use the an under-the-counter light and put the bowl under it.

I use the top of the fridge, since the heat from the fridge travels upwards. The top of the dryer works well too, but mine's down in the basement.

And I use my crockpot with yogurt all the time... put the yogurt in a jar, cover it with muslin, fill the crockpot with cold water, pop the jar in and set it to warm.

I have a gas oven & it's as cold as the rest of the house - what gives?

Modern gas ovens don't usually have pilot lights. Older models did though, in which case they would be warmer because of the flame constantly burning. My gas oven is also stone cold, because it has electric temperature controls and therefore no pilot light.
