Any benefit to pasteurized milk?

I can't get my hands on any raw milk right now, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to. Is there any benefit to drinking organic whole pasteurized milk, or are all the restorative properties lost during pasteurization?

Where are you currently located? If you are in GA, there's a wonderful farm that delivers to several cities around Atlanta. I was driving 5 hrs round trip to this farm from another state for about a year before I found a source a bit closer. If you are interested, PM me for the info. I also know of a PA farmer that will overnight his raw milk and other products but you have to be a member of a private co-op/club to order.

As far as pasteurized milk goes, it would be great if you could find low temp organic pasteurized milk instead of using the UHT (ultra high temp) pasteurized milk. The label tells you if its UHT. Basically UHT milk doesn't even need refrigeration until you open it. Organic Valley used to have both UHT and regular pasteurized milk but the regular stuff can be tricky to find. You may have to ask your grocery store to order it for you. I was able to find it at Whole Foods recently when I ran out of raw milk. Pasteurization reduces the vitamin content - especially vitamin D which is needed for dental health. It also destroys the good bacteria that help boost the immune system. Organic pasteurized milk is still more nutritious than non organic milk but I would keep searching for the raw stuff to get the full benefit.

I'm currently in London. I may have found a source of raw milk but not in very large quantities. We have a local organic fruit and veg delivery company that brings us local organic pasteurized milk from grass-fed cows. I'll contact them and see what kind of pasteurization they use.

Pasteurized milk is better than homogenized milk. The homogenization process breaks down the fat globules and is not good for you.

I have a similar question. THe only organic milk that is sold here is ultra-pasteurized. Is it better to use non-organic pasteurized or organic ultra?
Raw milk is not an option for me right now.

When i went to buy raw milk in NYC on Riverside Drive, I was told it was a prescription item. Is this still true?
