Best paper for toddler to paint on?

My DS loves to paint, but he quickly get the paper very soggy, and then it tears. I've used plain old white craft paper, and finger paint paper, both with the same results. Is there something sturdier for really messy painting?

When DD was in the "get a much paint on the paper as possible" stage I gave her a metal cookie sheet to paint on. It had slightly raised edges so the paint stayed contained. If she was interested I would lay a sheet of paper over the design to make a print but 99% of the time we just washed the sheet when she finished.

My daughter has some Strathmore kids art board paper that really stands up to all the paint.I think it came from Joanns.
